Finally, this noon, some entertainment news for you! A new play made its world debut this weekend at Saugatuck’s Mason Street Warehouse. SCENERY is the story of Richard and Marion Crain, a married couple that’s made a life and a career on the stage. Ironically enough, in SCENERY, they’re working on a play called THE ANNIVERSARY WAKE, and while we don’t see them performing on stage in THE ANNIVERSARY WAKE, we get quite a performance backstage in SCENERY. The entire play is set in the dressing room where Richard and Marion duke it out over everything! While married, we learn, that they have not been intimate in years, Richard is gay and Marion is more a best friend than a wife. Their story is about regret and pain, but also a friendship that somehow endures just about everything. Ed Dixon and Lynne Wintersteller are fantastic as Richard and Marion. And after this, you’ll always wonder what goes on backstage and what are the real lives of those actors like when the curtain falls.
